Merry Christmas Emails!

This is a very special time of year... busy for a lot of us but filled with the magic that keeps us going.

Yesterday after a long day at work I came home to an email from one of my collectors and it just made my day! Every once in a while you get those days and when they arrive during the holidays they are even more special. Here is the photo she sent of her three Seraphim Bears and all their friends underneath the tree. Thank you Ingrid.

The Pink one is Kawartha, the Cream one with rusty bell is Cozy and the little teeny bunny on the sleigh is The White Rabbit and  soon one more will be joining the hug, just in time for the holidays too.

Today I have a local craft show to do and I had magical dreams of a day filled with Christmas. I hope that some of you will be able to make it to Corbyville for the Mistletoe Magic show  Mistletoe Magic. It's supposed to snow today... that would be our first snowfall this year which I always feel brings in the spirit of Christmas.

I also received another email today from Josh Scott of Craftsy. I wanted to share with you a part of that email as I thought it was beautifully written and heartfelt too:

Making is different. It is special, meaningful and long-lasting in a world full of disposable items. It stretches us to do things we never thought we could do, enables us to enjoy child-like pride over something we have created, connects us to people in our community and around the world and perhaps most importantly, creates cherished moments and memories that are sure to out-live us.
So, thank you for being a maker.

Thank you for enriching the lives of your friends and family members through your creations.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and I will be back soon!

Thank you for coming out!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the online shows this past weekend.

The shows were a wonderful success even though there was a rough start and I would like to say thank you again for your patience in that matter. Each show there seems to be an issue but Daphne and Frank work diligently to get through that and I have always been super impressed by their dedication and professionalism. It must be difficult to pave the way of a new trend and learn as you go! So a big thank you goes out to them both also!

Ramalama Dingdong (through Ovcare online), Goodnight Sweetheart, Cherry Pink and Blue Christmas (through Teddies Worldwide - online) all found new homes and I am happy to say some of the collectors are also already enjoying their new editions to their hugs. I also adopted out two other bears this past week, Rockin' Robin' (eBay - online) and Polk Salad Annie (Bear Pile - online) and two others earlier this season The Duke of Earl and All Shook Up (Teddy Bears on Vacation - live)  and will continue to have more bears up for adoption through the holiday season.  Thank you to everyone who took home a Seraphim Bear.

This weekend Seraphim Bears will be found at the Corbyville, Ontario show - Mistletoe Magic. I will have some new bears there that were not at the other shows. The ones that did not find adoption homes in Toronto got a new set of eyes, BIG eyes which will remain part of the new look for Seraphim Bears and so they will be making a new debut at this show. The Mistletoe Magic show is a wonderful show of local artisans work and is never a disappointment. This is the first year that I am able to attend in many years as it has always fallen on the same weekend as the Toronto - Teddy Bears on Vacation. This year both shows changed their date and lucky for me they no longer overlap. I look forward to seeing some of you there and for those that cannot make it I have plans for you to have an opportunity to adopt a bear also. Just working out the bugs and I will send out a newsletter to inform you of how to attend when you can't attend in person! So if you are not on my newsletter list... its easy to join. Just head over to the right hand side bar of this blog and you will see a place to join!

Then there will be one last show before Christmas right here in my home town. That show will be on November 30 and December 1st and will help to raise money for children in the arts. After that... I will be wishing you all a happy holiday season and taking a long needed break.

That last show - The Core Christmas show is where I will be doing the draw for My Darlin Clementine so stay tuned to find out who will win her. If you are interested in this bear just send me off an email.

 My Darlin' Clementine

There will be some changes to the bears beginning 2013 and I am excited to start showing them to you. I will be posing on my website a preview notice of what I have planned and what to look forward to so please don't limit yourself to my blog.

You will find out the theme of the new bears names for this coming year and also learn about what I have planned for the image of the bears. This years theme for the bears names was songs and next year ... you'll have to go to my website to find out early!

A couple more bears need to be completed for orders this year and some Christmas gifts need to be made and then Seraphim Bears will have a new beginning with a brand new 2013 hug!

I love to receive your comments and am really enjoying the polls so please don't be shy...  write to me, take a poll and join in the fun.

Big Hugs

Bears that Care - Ramalama Dingdong

Bears that Care online show is now open! And here is Ramalama Dingdong my donation bear!

I always love creating a donation bear! Not only are the proceeds for a great cause but also because I get to play and truly make an original one of a kind bear and Ramalama Dingdong is no exception!

Although he is made with my same Seraphim Bears pattern I was able to play around with finishing techneques and really have fun with creating this unique Kooky little bears personality! He is fabulous! With his hand dyed viscose and heavily stained face and he comes with a silk hat lined in wool felt and even a handmade wooden block that spells BEAR on the sides!

I hope you agree that he is truly a one of a kind bear and you can also simply make a donation at this show to help ovarian research!

And if my little bear doesn't "ring your bell" there are several other artists at this show that have bears for you to consider!

Big Hugs from Seraphim Bears and I hope you enjoy this show and don't forget that at 4:00pm the online Teddies Worldwide show begins!

The Better to See You With My Dear...

It's amazing what a difference eyes make.

I wanted to try a new look and I began to use small small eyes in relation to the size of the bears head... I created a few and though they were lovely in their own way... I just miss my big big eyes.
Maybe it's all those fairy tales... "what big eyes you have" said little Red Riding Hood to the wolf. Or what about the Red Queen in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland when she compliments Alice for her extremely large head.

Whatever the reason, I just cannot seem to let them go... so much like my own, I guess my bears will have large eyes... "All the better to see you with my dear!!!"

So here is a before and after of my lovely Le vie en Rose... who now has large eyes and lovely ones to boot... get it? Boot button eyes. Hee hee.

I am quiet pleased with the change it has made to her sweet expression and I hope you will love her too.

I wanted to share with you the difference that placement and size can make to a face. One is not better than the other, they are just simply different.

She is up on Bear Pile available for adoption with new images of her new self with her beautiful big eyes!
